4 By 4 Brewing Company – Freemont Hills

Owned by four couples, which explains the name, 4 By 4 Brewing Company first poured beer in December 2017; it has nothing to do with trucks or off-roading. The idea started as a half-serious joke among friends watching homebrewing in a garage, and it grew more real the more time the group spent together. During a birthday trip to Nashville for Chris, one of the partners and the brewer behind the beer, they decided to go for it, and about 13 months of research and build-out followed. The owners are Derek and Danielle, Justin and Stacy, Steve and Kelly, and Chris and Shila, and one couple’s 2016 campground wedding featured some of Chris’s early practice batches. Beers that have rotated through the taps include Greenway IPA, Smooth Criminal, a mango blonde ale and a tangerine milkshake IPA. 4 By 4 now runs taprooms in Fremont Hills and Galloway.
