Piney River Brewing Company
About
Piney River Brewing Company is a farm brewery in Bucyrus, in the Missouri Ozarks, founded by Joleen and Brian Durham, who bought their land there in 1998. After drilling a deeper well for limestone-filtered Ozarks water and cleaning out a 1940s barn, they opened it, now called the BARn, as the brewery in March 2011. In November 2011 Piney River became the first Missouri microbrewery to can beer on site, starting with Missouri Mule IPA along with McKinney Eddy Amber Ale. Old Tom Porter won gold at the Great American Beer Festival in 2013 and Float Trip Ale took gold at the 2014 World Beer Cup. A larger brewhouse and canning line followed on the farm, and the BARn kept its weekend taproom and became home to Farm Raised Funk, a line of oak-aged mixed fermentation beers. Overnight guests can book the Piney River Bed & Brewery, a remodeled farmhouse.
