Weston Brewing Co / O’Malley’s Pub

Weston Brewing Company traces its roots to 1842, when German immigrant John Georgian began brewing lager in Weston, using river ice in winter and cellars dug deep underground to keep the beer cold for weeks. That made it one of the earliest lager breweries in the country. Over the following decades the brewery passed through several owners, survived an 1860 fire and, as the Royal Brewing Co., became the largest manufacturer in Platte County in the early 1900s, even sponsoring an early Kansas City Royals baseball team. Lifelong friends Michael Coakley and Corey Weinfurt bought the 3.2-acre complex in 2005 and now produce more than 15 brands. The property is also home to O’Malley’s 1842 Irish Pub, along with America Bowman Restaurant and several lodging options. Saturday brewery tours visit the historic underground cellars and end with a tasting.
