Alma Mader Brewing

Alma Mader Brewing is a brewer-owned brewery on Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City. Co-founder and brewing director Nick Mader and his team trained and brewed around the country before coming back home to open it. The beer focuses on hop-forward ales and lagers along with barrel-aged releases, and most of it is sold only in the tasting room. The name has two meanings: it treats Kansas City as the founders’ alma mater, the place that shaped them, and it carries the Mader family name, following a European custom and signaling a business meant to last and be passed on. Its West Coast IPAs and extra pale ales have won medals at the Great American Beer Festival and other national competitions, and Kansas City Magazine has named it a top local brewery. Alma Mader also runs the Madera membership program with its own bottle shop.
