BKS Artisan Ales

Opened in late 2017, BKS Artisan Ales became Brookside’s first craft brewery in Kansas City, and its name uses the well-known shorthand for that area. The brewery and tasting room sit at the corner of 63rd and Holmes streets, where it brews hop-forward, classic and modern ales along with lagers under its Pivo Project label, drawing on both traditional and experimental influences. A second tasting room followed in late 2025 in the Crossroads Art District with 16 taps and later weekend hours. Both rooms pour draft beer and sell packaged beer to go. BKS has earned wide recognition, including gold medals at the 2026 World Beer Cup for a New Zealand-style IPA and a session IPA, a 2022 Great American Beer Festival gold for its English mild ale and Brewery of the Year honors among small breweries at the 2025 Missouri Beer Cup.
