Border Brewing Company

Border Brewing Company is a small-batch brewery and taproom in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District. Founder Eric Martens, a chemical engineer who began homebrewing on weekends, opened it on 18th Street in 2015 with the aim of building the kind of brewery he would want to drink at. The goal is clean, balanced beer brewed close to the people who drink it. Flagships have included Strawberry Blonde Ale, Lima Fresca, a Kölsch finished with sea salt and lime, Shiftie double IPA, Patio Pale Ale, Stay Classy IPA, Backyard Lager and Rooftop Red Lager, and seasonals change often. In 2025 Border launched its Baseline line of non-alcoholic beers, which it calls the city’s first craft NA beers. The taproom, which also serves hard cider, seltzer and cocktails, has a patio available for private parties.
